AI Powered Content Creation

Content creation has become one of our key tasks in HR or L&D since the birth of digital channels. We’ve been creating content used as training resources, job aids, policy guides, or for company standard operating procedures. But we have to admit that this takes a lot of our precious time.

In my experience creating videos for training for example, a 5 minute video would take me around 9 hours to produce. The time allocation may look like this:

· 1.5 hrs researching for content

· 1.5 hrs writing the script and storyboard

· 1 hr searching for relevant visuals

· 2 hours for voice over recording

· 3 hours for editing

It can be shorter or even longer depending on the content and the tools you use. And this is just for 1 video. This is also the reason why many professionals find it overwhelming to create content. Because IT.TAKES.TIME.

But the good news is, new technologies have emerged and now we can shorten this whole process! I tried to use tools to make my content creation life a bit easier. I was able to create a 1 minute video in just 40 minutes. Wheeewww! Although I have to say, there’s many opportunities in the produced output but I’d consider this good enough especially if you need to release content out there in a very limited time. Here's the video:

Now let me share with you the process.

Step 1: Identify a Topic

Be clear with what topic you want to create content on as it will dictate the kind of words and visuals you will select later on. So for the video I created, the topic is: Future of Work.

Step 2: Go to ChatGPT and ask it to write a video script

If you don’t have an account yet, then you have to create one. The prompt I used is simple and straightforward: Write a script for a video talking about future of work. Then ChatGPT already provided me with the voice over script and the suggested visuals.

Step 3: Copy your script into Speechelo

Speechelo is an AI Text to Speech Software. It requires subscription though before you can use it. One good thing is that you only pay once for a lifetime subscription. I’ve used this for a number of projects so I’d say it’s worth your money instead of having to do your own voice over or getting a voice talent which is also costly.

Once you’ve typed the script from ChatGPT and generated it from Speechelo, then it’s time for you to upload them into Canva.

Step 4: Upload your voice over clips to Canva

I always like collecting all my clips and uploading them at the same time as it’s more efficient for me. Once you’ve uploaded your clips, you can add them one by one in your design.

Step 5: Find the right visuals

Canva is an easy to use design tool. One of its highlight is its massive library of design assets like graphics, photos, and videos. Get a premium subscription if you want to maximize the resources, otherwise a free subscription also works if you are just beginning.

With the search feature, you can just type the visuals you are looking for (you can refer to the visuals suggested by ChatGPT earlier in your video script). Edit your design assets together and download your video.

Step 6. Upload in different content channels

Once you download your video, you can now upload it to various channels- your LMS, your Company intranet, and many more!

Hope you can also try using the AI tools in creating content in a quicker and engaging way!
